With the success of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, it seems that the automaker is setting its sights on making the minivan more popular than ever with the Chrysler Portal. This futuristic vehicle originally debuted at CES 2017 to much excitement. Since then, we haven’t heard much about the minivan until recently, thanks to Automotive News, which states we could see a production model by 2020.
What we know right now is that the Chrysler Portal is an electric minivan that comes with futuristic technology aimed to excite younger drivers. Reports suggest that the Chrysler Portal will head to production with the same name as the concept, meaning we’re hopeful that it will contain a lot of the concept features.
The vehicle operates on a battery-electric powertrain and features plenty of modern technology that we’ve really only seen in concepts. It’s not just a reskinned Chrysler Pacifica, either. The vehicle looks exceptionally futuristic and is capable of SAE Level 3 autonomous driving. With features like face and voice recognition, it can automatically configure itself for individual drivers.
