We understand that high gas prices can get you down, especially when the summer driving season is nearly upon us. Fortunately, there are plenty of fuel efficient cars available here at Lester Glenn Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM, and even if you’re not looking for an upgrade there are more than a few ways to save on gas every time you hit the road. Here are our top tips.
Don’t Speed
Speeding around can actually waste a lot of gasoline. Generally, traveling at speeds of more than 50-55 miles per hour can end up burning off more gas than you would like. Keep to the speed limit and avoid putting the pedal to the metal.
Avoid Too Many Short Trips
Short trips can also be quite inefficient. If you have a lot of errands to run, try to combine all of your short trips into one lengthier excursion. This can help you use your gasoline a little bit more efficiently.
Don’t Delay Oil Changes
Fresh oil keeps your engine running more efficiently. When you put off oil changes, your engine has to work harder and runs hotter. This can waste gasoline and increase your emissions. If you are due for an oil change, schedule an appointment at our Chrysler service center right away.
Check Your Tire Pressure
Under-inflated tires can actually reduce your gas mileage. Check the inside of your driver’s side door and note the proper psi for your car’s tires. Then check each tire occasionally or at least before you take a long drive. If any tires are under-inflated, fill them up with air!
